Early Years Training and Professional Development

Before booking on courses, please read the terms and conditions below to ensure you have familiarised yourself with the booking and cancellation procedures and the associated charges. 

To book a course place, browse the courses, note down the course code, and book online via the link in the course description. Please note payment for courses will need to be made in advance of attending training via the online payment service. 

Remember to cancel your place if you are subsequently unable to attend. All cancellations must be made in writing to childcaretraining@wokingham.gov.uk

    Summary Suitable for all Childminders and PVI group practitioners either new to autism, with limited knowledge of the condition, or those needing a refresher in the Early Years sector. The sessions will include a range of approaches that can be used to meet the needs of those on the autistic spectrum.

    Summary Characteristics of effective learning are lifelong skills. By providing opportunity for sustained shared thinking, children learn to work through quite complex problems, employing a number of valuable skills in the process.

    Summary Training for new EY SENCOs in the private voluntary and independent sector in group settings for the under-fives. This course runs across two consecutive days (1.5) in total. Participants will need to bring a copy of the Early Years Guide to SEN Code of Practice 2014; downloadable from the DfE website. Please note lunch will not be provided. E-Learning - Safeguarding

All members of the Early Years and Childcare workforce are able to gain free access to the LSCB’s e-learning package for Level 1 training. 

This package is easy to access and work through and is appropriate for those staff who are waiting to receive face to face training, or those who are due a refresher (i.e. have not received Level 1 training in the last 3 yrs) and those who would welcome an update.
