S2S

This page provides links and guidance to using s2s.

s2s is part of the DfE's Secure Access website and is a secure method of transferring pupil or other sensitive data between schools, local authorities and the DfE.  It has been a statutory duty since 2002 for schools to upload a Common Transfer File (CTF) file via s2s every time a pupil leaves a school.  Receiving schools are then notified that a file is waiting for them to download.  The website must also be used to post CTF files for children missing in education (CME) and for those leaving mainstream education.

s2s is also used for exchanging data in Excel spreadsheets using the generic file option.

The s2s handbook for schools can be found on the DfE website by following the link below to the DfE s2s webpage.

The documents attached below provide additional guidance on procedures and use of the s2s website.
