 Admissions policies and procedures

Information about admissions is available on the main Council website at this link: http://www.wokingham.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/ or schools can contact the Admissions Team via this email address: Admissions@wokingham.gov.uk

Changes to admissions policy

Proposals to change the admissions policy of community or voluntary controlled schools, including school admission numbers and designated areas or the co-ordinated admissions scheme, should be made to Admissions by 1 October to allow time for consideration prior to formalising documentation to be provided to the School Admissions Forum for its meeting in November.  Consultation will take place for a minimum eight week period concluding by 1 March and will be available at www.wokingham.gov.uk. Notification will be sent to schools when the consultation commences.

Fair Access Protocol

A revised Fair Access Protocol has been adopted by the local authority following consultation with schools in the Summer of 2016 and the majority of schools agreed to its adoption as required by the School Admissions Code.

A Fair Access Protocol works best when there is an effective partnership between schools and local authority officers.  It is binding on all schools (including own admission authority schools).

Its purpose is to ensure that, outside the normal admissions round, unplaced children, especially the most vulnerable, are found and offered a place quickly, so that the amount of time any child is out of school is kept to the minimum.

The Fair Access Protocol is available on the main Council website at this link: http://www.wokingham.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/

Forms for completion by schools are shown below.
