Elective Home Education

Elective Home Education (EHE)

Parents/carers have a duty to ensure that their children receive a suitable full time education either by regular attendance at school or otherwise. The law allows parents/carers to choose to educate their children at home instead of sending them to school. This is known as Elective Home Education.

If your child is currently in a school and you wish to home educate them please put this in writing to the Head teacher and that you wish them to be removed from the school roll.

School will then inform the Education Welfare Service and arrangements will be made to make an inspection of the education put in place at home.
