This half day course is aimed at those who have in the past attended the WBC one-day Headteachers' course and has been designed to provide Headteachers, Deputy Heads, School Business Managers etc. with an update and refresher together with an awareness of what they practically need to do to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice guidance. In particular: the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance applicable to schools - 'Sensible Health and Safety Management in Schools'; any significant changes in legislation; what Headteacher need to ensure is happening within their area of control to maintain legislative compliance and meet with best practice. It is recommended that staff attend a refresher course at three-yearly intervals.
Candidates will:
- gain an overview of any legislative changes/recent updates
- gain knowledge of what needs to be practically done to satisfy legal requirements for managing the key risks within schools
- have an opportunity to discuss their health and safety issues or concerns and learn from colleagues
