EYFS

If your club is registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register, you must have regard for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). As Out of School Hours care providers are not the child's main deliverer of the EYFS, you will not be responsible for the completion of the child's Early Years Foundation Stage Profile, but may be asked to contribute.

Each child in the EYFS should be allocated a key person, who may be responsible for a number of children. It should be the person who will know that child best. They will liaise with parents and other providers and maintain the child's records. These records should be in proportion to the time the child spends at the setting.

Most settings keep a small folder for each child and record significant events for the child. This can be in the form of observations, post-it notes, drawings, photos. etc. This information should then be shared with the child's parents and other providers.

As well as providing for the Early Learning Goals you must also adhere to the safeguarding and welfare requirements as laid out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. These cover Safeguarding and promoting children's welfare, suitable people, suitable premises, environment and equipment, organisation and what documentation you need to keep.
