The Young Interpreters scheme was devised by Hampshire LA. It involves training children to act as mentors for their peers who are learning English as an additional language. Following staff training, several Wokingham schools have implemented the scheme. If your school has implemented the scheme you will find useful documents below. If you are interested in implementing the scheme at your school, please see the information on the Hampshire website:

The Young Teachers materials were devised by Christina Shamaris of Reading Borough Council. Young Teachers are children who are provided with some training to enable them to support other children with reading. Young Interpreters could be given the ‘Young Teachers’ training in addition to their Young Interpreter training to enable them to support with reading.
If you have not accessed the Moodle before you will need to contact Astrid Gouwy (Hampshire LA) to be set up with a user name and password (astrid.gouwy@hants.gov.uk). Children are not provided with their own Moodle accounts but can use the Moodle while supervised by adults who have logged in.
