Please see the document below for information on support for schools with newly arrived pupils with EAL.
Bilingual support
For Arabic and Polish speaking children, it may be possible to arrange support from bilingual teaching assistants employed by the LA. Please complete the support request form below and return it to Emily Waddilove (contact details are on the form). The bilingual TAs usually support pupils for a morning a week for at least a term. This support is free of charge to maintained schools.
For children who speak other languages, bilingual support from a Reading University student can be requested by completing the form below and returning it to the University (to the email address on the form). Students come into school for 1½ - 2 hours a week for one term.
The University does not guarantee that a student speaking the required language will be found, but will do their best to fulfil requests. Students may find it difficult to get to schools which do not have good public transport links with the University.
