Update regarding WASMA 2020 performances

Please note that in the light of the current situation the WASMA 2020 performances that were due to take place on Sunday 22 and Sunday 29 March at the Hexagon have been postponed.

WASMA and The Hexagon have agreed some dates in the latter part of the summer term when it might be possible for the WASMA 2020 performances to be rescheduled.

However, since we won’t know for a while whether those performances will be able to go ahead, we think it is better to refund all parents that purchased tickets through the Hexagon Box Office.  The Hexagon is now starting to manage that process.  It will happen automatically and parents don’t need to contact the Box Office unless they haven’t received a refund within 30 days.

Where parents purchased additional WASMA tickets through their school, schools will aim to refund those monies in due course.

If it isn't possible to go ahead with the revised dates in the latter part of the summer term, it is likely that WASMA 2020 will have to be cancelled.

Where parents purchased WASMA T shirts but haven't yet received them, schools will make arrangements to provide them once it is possible to do so.

We will keep this web page updated with the latest position.

The Wokingham Area Schools Music Association (WASMA) continues to provide opportunities for pupils in Wokingham schools to make music together.  WASMA is organised by the schools for the schools, involving about 800 children from a large proportion of the primary and junior schools in the area.

During its history the format of performances has changed a number of times, from individual school choirs singing familiar songs to spectacular staging of modern children's 'operas' with full technical wizardry. What has not changed is the commitment of schools to offer these very special opportunities to their pupils, in the knowledge that the children will remember taking part in WASMA for many years to come.

Performances are conducted by Clive Waterman, a Music Consultant to the Council and former Wokingham headteacher.  Some performances make use of cameras projected to a live screen and are recorded so that parents can purchase a DVD.

We currently have fairly regular groups of schools which participate in the two concerts, but new schools are always welcome to join.  To find out more, please contact Clive Waterman or David Congdon.
