TKAT Roundtable Discussion Series: SEND Adaptive Provision in Maths

This session will explore how adaptive teaching in Maths enables all pupils to keep up and achieve secure understanding. Teachers will discuss how they can respond to different starting points through well-sequenced teaching, precise questioning and targeted practice that connects new ideas to prior knowledge. The focus will be on using adaptive strategies, such as pre-teaching, guided support and the effective use of representations to strengthen conceptual understanding and procedural fluency without reducing challenge. The discussion will draw on practical examples of how responsive teaching can support pupils who struggle, while maintaining ambition and coherence across the curriculum.
