Mental Health and Wellbeing Summer Network Meeting for Schools

Wokingham Mental Health and Wellbeing Network Meeting in partnership with The Charlie Waller Institute, University of Reading
Aims:
•Support educational staff in schools who lead on mental health and wellbeing
•Provide a supportive space where professionals can come together
•Support the whole school approach agenda to mental health and wellbeing and keep schools up to date with the local offer
•Build a supportive network of mental health leads
•Feel more confident about the role and how this translates into practice
•Share good practice (what helps at a universal, targeted and specialist level)
•Provide ‘time to talk’ and share resources
The summer term meeting will have an EDI focus

- Power wheel

Connection and belonging: supporting the mental health of children and young people
This session will explore the importance of a whole-school approach to creating a culture of belonging, social connection, and shared values. Drawing on current research and practical strategies, we will discuss how fostering these elements can promote resilience, reduce loneliness, and support the mental wellbeing of students and staff. We will cover:
- The impact of belonging and connection on mental health and learning
- Challenges facing young people today, including the role of social media
- Practical strategies for fostering connection and a sense of belonging and shared values as part of the whole school approach
