This course is to enable teachers to better understand the lived experiences of parents, children and staff of colour and to develop their support approaches for people of colour in their school community.

Who should attend

Senior leaders, racial equity leaders, preferably a person of colour member of staff.

Course outcomes

Improved understanding of the lived experiences of parents, children and staff of colour. Knowledge required to: support children to develop positive identities and navigate challenges; and to help parents to better understand school settings and ways to support their children; to develop ongoing relationships of trust and collaboration with parents, pupils and staff of colour.

Staff of colour will be better able to navigate their role and school experiences. Participants will have the knowledge, skills and resources needed to facilitate group sessions and meetings in their settings. While this training is for both PoC and White staff, it is advised that PoC staff lead on this work.

Other information

NB Participants are required to have attended the Racial Literacy 101 course (or another similar course) before attending this course
