Description
The full training for Therapeutic Thinking is a 3-day face-to-face course. The course runs on 3 consecutive days from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Attendees are required to attend all 3 full days.

The training is designed for the Head Teacher and other senior leaders, including Inclusion Leads and SENCOs.

The aim is for 2 people from every school in Wokingham to have attended the full training.

Therapeutic Thinking will lead to:

  • A common language and a joint approach that is followed by all professionals in Wokingham
  •
  • Schools and settings that provide a safe and welcoming environment for all parties, where mutual respect and dignity are deep-rooted
  •
  • An improvement in attendance and behaviours for learning
  •
  • An understanding of the inseparable link between teaching, learning and behaviour
  •
  • Improved staff confidence in meeting the needs of the children and young people
  •
  • A reduction in the need to positively handle or restrain
  •
  • The inclusion of children with difficult or concerning behaviours
  •
  • A reduction in the number of Fixed Term and Permanent Exclusions

Once you have successfully attended you are considered ‘Tutors’ in Therapeutic Thinking and then have full access to the presentation resources and analysis tools in order to embed the principles within your school setting.

The school is also then provided with 15 hours of Adviser time (WBC) to support the successful strategic implementation of Therapeutic Thinking during the first year. The Tutor will also be invited to join 3 Network meetings across the first year.

‘Tutors’ are expected to attend a Refresher Training session annually.
