Racial equity: Racial Literacy for school staff

Description
This introductory two and half hour session equips participants with the foundational knowledge required to engage in the sensitive and complex issues of ‘race’ and racism by: 

• exploring ‘race’ and racism in the historical and contemporary context including an outline of structural/institutional racism, bias and white privilege 

• giving an understanding of the experiences of children and young people, both in terms of how they learn 'race' and their racialised experiences 

• outlining the key areas that schools and education settings can examine to advance their anti-racist practice

Initially, we suggest prioritising a senior leader and people of colour members of staff to attend the course. 

Places can be booked for up to 4 members of staff from one school for each course.
